Project Brief:
A seasonal womenswear collection that represents my personal vision and reflects a theme of Juxtaposition - A concept of two things being seen close together with contrasting effects.
Approach: Psychological Theory & Multi-functional Product
Timeline: 10 weeks
FORMA is my Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Fashion Design graduation project, completed at the Fashion Institute of Technology. The project responds to the theme of juxtaposition by exploring the relationship between fashion and anti-fashion. My intention was to interpret these seemingly simple yet complex ideas—what is fashion and what is not—through the language of form, function, and reduction to simple shapes.
The collection is a study of geometric forms—square, circle, and triangle—and their potential for product transformation. Through this exploration, I challenged myself to reimagine wearable garments as multifunctional objects, incorporating elements inspired by industrial products such as convertible top tote bag and sleeping bag coat.
Driven by functionality and defined by minimal, unisex silhouettes, each piece in the collection is conceptual, convertible, and designed to remain aesthetically wearable.

Fashion

Anti-fashion
(noun)
an umbrella term for various styles of dress that are explicitly contrary to today's fashion. Anti-fashion styles may represent an attitude of indifference or may arise from political or practical goals which make fashion a secondary priority.
